Difficulty: Very Easy
Summon: ZombieFodder, QuakeFodder
Melee: Yes
Distance: Yes(Quake variant only)
Type: Human, Undead
Credits:
Submitted: Horror Movie Guy

Sprite Edit: Finalizer, Horror Movie Guy
Idea Base: Classic movie zombie, Doom 4's "possessed" enemy, Quake's Zombie
Description:
The lowest of the lowest in hell's army? Or perhaps a reanimation experiment gone wrong? Who knows what these creatures are. And who cares? They are more of a decoration piece than an actual threat. Slow, weak, and fragile, they aren't even worth the ammo it would take to put them down. One thing is for sure, they do make for great punching bags.

I really like this monster. Not just for the design, which is also really good, but because you can use this as an early game major hoard enemy. Like, in a wave based mod on one of the earlier levels right, the very last wave would be hundreds of these guys coming for you. It's the first level so your weapons are not going to be great, a shotgun at the most with maybe half to three fourths of ammo. Use it all up to fast and you're left to fight the hundreds of zombies with your fists, which will do just fine but you still risk getting hit yourself by getting close to them. If you have them coming in from all sides that would be a little intimidating because then they can gang up on you more easily. They may be super weak and slow but every little hit still chips away at you, and there's still another fifty or so coming at you.
Also it's a pretty good hoard type enemy in general. Like one of those surprise-I'm-behind-the-wall-that-just-opened-up-behind-you monsters. Only have about ten of them in there instead of three or four.

I can see this one becoming a very used monster. It is just perfect for catacombs and other environments that are supposed to be filled with imp old corpses!
Also, it comes in hand to compensate the critics of R667 being a "bossiary"

Looks like a nice repurpose of the Soul Harvester sprite set. Sort of reminds me in theory of the really highly deteriorated zombies from Doom 3 (I forget their names offhand) that show up in the Hell levels (although those were tougher than standard zombies). I'll have to try this out since it looks real promising.
EDIT: And now that I've tried it, I like it. I think my only complaint is that he only deals a measly 2 points of damage per hit, which is pretty darn low even for a horde/junk monster. Maybe you could boost it to 2 - 16?

Yeah, I guess I can buff his melee attack a little. I was also thinking about adding a Quake-like variation, that can only be killed through gibbing, I think that could be useful for Quake-inspired mapsets.

A gib-death-only version could be pretty cool. Question--have you considered perhaps using an alternate sound set? The Zombieman sound set works OK (being a zombie and all), but due to his advanced decomposition, he could potentially benefit from something a bit different to set him apart. For example, the sound set for Doom 3's hell-level bony zombies might work really well for these. It's just a suggestion, though! This thing is already pretty nice as-is.

Alrighty, I updated it. Now it uses Doom 3's "boney" zombie sound as suggested by Wazard, buffed the attack a little bit and added the Quake variant (it even throws gibs at you).
