Looks like someone's got critters on the brain! I haven't tested these yet; I see that they are "no threat", but are they shootable?

Yes, they are shootable. Purely for world populating but they are still interactive. I plan on making that sheep next as another world populating animal... maybe as another morph-able as well if I can figure out a good additional mechanic for it.

I never considered such a sprite / actor as this, but now I'm amazed that nobody ever seems to use them.

When I return to heavy Doom editing I'm definitely going to include this type of thing.

Hey, so I checked the "Vegetation" section of the Repository and didn't see any squirrel-trees listed there.

Is the tree something you're still working on, as an animated spawn source? I could imagine a looped animation of squirrels scampering around the tree, and then one popping out every thirty seconds or so, if an area has no squirrels.

That's because there are no squirrel-trees. The tree you see on here is merely something I cobbled up together only as a preview image. I know it's a bit big and I probably didn't need to do anything else besides show one single squirrel, but I wanted to make something a little more... interesting I guess. I wanted to do a little more than just a single boring squirrel and have something a little more fun to look at instead.

However, I did think about making a decoration of a tree with squirrels in it and moving around a little beforehand. I might do something like that a little later on, though I might want to use a different tree or at least put some actual leaves and such on this Doom tree. I do like your idea of making it a spawner of sorts in addition to a decoration as well. Not sure if I can make it spawn only if a certain amount of squirrels are within the area though, but I'll tinker around and see about it.

Whoops, the "in an area" was just some loosely worded deductive logic on my part... the "area" being whatever sectors they end up wandering once heights and linedefs are considered. That's all. Nothing explicitly bound as a tree's territory, so to speak.

My foresight was purely about maintaining a population of "n" Squirrels like how a Vanilla Pain Elemental maintains a pop of 4 Lost Souls.

This idea of squirrels being bound to certain areas gave me the idea of a squirrel escort-mission, though.

Well leaves or no leaves, I think the tree looks pretty cool.

This seems pretty decent overall as well. I like that the attack sound was included in case anyone wanted to create that state for it.

I think that A_CheckProximity would be perfect for that. I wouldn't worry about it for this version, though; it could always come later on down the road.

Ooooo thank you for pointing that out. I didn't know about that. I'll mess around with that later on and see what I can do. I'll need to make the trees and animations first of course. The spawning squirrel tree will most likely be a separate submission as a Prop.
