[CLOSED][UPDATE] Icon of the Raven was created by Ghastly
When I initially made the Icon of the Raven, I didn't really have any clue how to make an invisibility powerup. While working on something else today, I figured it out, so I just removed the hacked-together invisibility I made for the Icon and added actual invisibility.

This method of invisibility does seem a little broken, though. While it seems to work and monsters aren't targeting you, they're playing their see-sounds repeatedly and sometimes turning. I believe it's a ZDoom bug, because that doesn't seem like behavior anybody intended. I'll type up a bug report for it. If you want to keep this in approval-stasis 'til that's fixed, I'm alright with that.

Sounds like they are targeting you but then lose you before they can actually doing anything other than face a different direction. Moving in front of an Afrit while using the item in Hexen made it active but afterwards it was wandering. Additionally, if you activate an enemy and then use the item they play their see sound WAY MORE. It's actually kind of funny. I tested this in GZdoom 3.2.1.

Additionally, while I tested it out I saw that I was completely invisible when switching to Chase Cam, so I couldn't see myself as a raven flying around. Is this intended?

Right. I completely forgot that was a thing, 'cause +Invisible also applies RenderStyle None. Yeah, I need to do a bit more work on this.

Just looked on the ZDoom wiki and found this A_OverlayRenderstyle. It's suppose to overlay an already applied render style. I just tried messing with it a little bit but it doesn't seem that A_OverlayRenderstyle is recognized in Slade3. At least, the text isn't highlighted orange which usually indicates that it's a function that it recognizes. Or maybe I'm doing it wrong again, idk.

Hey, Ghastly! You're alive! :D

May I suggest reformatting the pickup slightly so that it gives both flight and morphing at once, instead of having the raven continuously give itself flight power? I've attached an example here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rirqdfq6hh729re/IconOfTheRaven.zip?dl=0

(Note that invisibility is commented out here, since it's acting oddly anyways.)

Also, I palette-swapped the chicken HUD weapon from Heretic to make it look a bit more crow-like; that way the player sees something while morphed. It's also included in the attachment. (The translation, in case you need it, is "0:35=0:14", "52:65=0:14", "145:168=111:136", "95:110=0:14") You may want to offset it for the attack states, though. You can probably get sounds from one of the Crow submissions.

Oh, and I also just noticed another complication--when the morphed player "dies" and reverts to human, he gets to keep his flight power (apparently indefinitely). This occurs whether using Ghastly's original method (morphed player repeatedly gives itself flight power) or my alternate method (item gives both powers at once).

Found a better way to do what I was trying with ZScript. I'll wait 'til the proposed rule changes are all through with, then finish up the update.

ZScript is allowed. In fact, it has been allowed for a while now, and we already have at least a couple of submissions on the repo which use it.

Yeah, I figured it was allowed, but I proposed some changes to info and credits, and if we make those changes I was going to go through and update a bunch of the more commonly-used entries to the new rules and full ZScript, and I figure I may as well fix this up when I do that.

Any progress, or has this been abandoned?

It doesn't look like we'll be seeing this updated. Closing...
