Laser-Scout was created by TheMightyHeracross
Information:
Name: Laser-Scout
Difficulty: Easy
Connections: Sentinel
Summon: Laser-Scout
Melee: No
Distance: Projectile
Type: Robot
Brightmaps: Yes
Added States: No
ACS: No
Credits:
Submitted: TheMightyHeracross
Decorate: TheMightyHeracross
GLDefs: Graf Zhal (lights.pk3)
Sounds: Rogue
Sprites: ENGINE Technology (Mars 3D)
Sprite Edit: TheMightyHeracross
Idea Base: A lower-tier ground Strife robot.
Description:
A simple enemy, the Laser-Scout has 250 HP and fires lasers similar to the Sentinel's
own. Basically, a tankier ground-based Sentinel.
This is actually a resubmission, the first was closed due to lack of attention, but it seemed to be ready to go. Differences include proper GLDefs brightmaps (since Strife's palette hack only works in software IIRC) and lights, a more aggressive attack sequence, full rotations and a standing frame (by Enjay), a modified death sound (to remove that last "boom" from the Sentinel death), a separate XDeath sound (that is, using the stock Reaver death), and changing the class name to simply "LaserScout" to avoid errors. Additionally, both a DECORATE and ZScript version is offered. This enemy must be loaded with Strife.

Regarding offering both a DECORATE and ZScript versions, I'd rather you go with either, and not both. If you care too much about making the monster widely accessible (I'm thinking Zandronum, here), go with the DECORATE version. If you don't, then go with the ZScript one.

GZDoom logs this on start-up:
Code:
Multiple brightmap definitions in texture MECHE8

EDIT. nvm
Well this is confusing. There's clearly only one brightmap, one sprite, and one definition in that wad. The MECH sprite name isn't used in any IWAD to my knowledge, and why E8 specifically?

The brightmap definition of MECHE8 isn't properly closed; it is missing a '}' at the end of it.

Well that was extraordinarily stupid. Coincidentally, this also fixes the other problem that I had just noticed (which was the "disablefullbright" keyword not working).
Well that's fixed now.

It doesn't look like the download link was updated successfully. It still links to the buggy version.TheMightyHeracross wrote: Well that's fixed now.

Ugh, now it should work. I think I reuploaded the bad one by mistake.
