[Submission] Lava & Mud Golem was created by Himalayanapplebutter
Name: Lava Golem & Mud Golem
Difficulty: Medium
Connections: none
Summon: lavagolem, mudgolem
Melee: Yes
Distance: Projectile
Type: Demon, Magical
Brightmaps: No
Actor Modification: No
ACS: No

Credits:
Code: me
GLDefs: none
Sounds: Raven Software
Sprites: Raven Software

I updated the wad with some changes, I added Gothic's death sprites for the lava golem, and I made an extra frame for the mud golem's death so it didn't look weird next to the lava golem
I also changed the sounds for the mud golem's projectile to some sounds from hexen, which are included

Description: Two golems, a lava golem who throws homing fire balls, and a mud golem who tosses poison at you. Both of them can't experience pain since they're not creatures of flesh and blood.

Since the monsters in shadowcaster don't have rotational sprites for attacking, I used a walking sprite for their rotations

Last edit: 4 years 5 months ago by Himalayanapplebutter. Reason: I made the mud golem's projectile turn the players screen green, like the gas clouds in hexen

Man I wish we could port the entire ShadowCaster bestiary to the repo, too bad some monsters lack certain rotations, like the Golems lack rotations for their attacks.

Your recreations are great, if I could criticize something besides the attack rotations, is the sounds. ShadowCaster was pretty lackluster in the sound department compared to later Raven games, and some sounds aren't as good, like the poison attack of the Mud Golem, sounds weak and not very poison like.
Also this is my opinion, but I find the Lava Golem a bit overpowered. May I suggest reducing the damage to half or less, and make the projectile deal radius damage? Unless you're ok with the current projectile.

As for its death sprites, since it becomes lava, maybe recoloring it to ressemble the lava tiles from Heretic & Hexen. I edited its death frames, and added 2 more so it doesn't stay as a big pile of lava, if you want to use them:

That's a very good addition Gothic! Good design choice in regards of Heretic

Oh, one thing though, I tried to click the link for the mud/lava golem and it tells me to request my email for access to this monster. I already requested it via Johncook1994 on the description

The Golems are very good to play with. I tested the lava golem out and the movement, attack, and Gothic's recommendation are nice. I think the mud golem's projectile effect could have the player's screen to be green (like the Grell/Tortured Soul poison effect). This is the only thing you might consider fixing, but the rest of the code and testing is good. The Mancubus would be jealous of these twins.

@Himalayanapplebutter If you want, you can seperate the two golems into one wad, and I can fix the hud poison color for you and I can add it.

Hopefully somebody in the future will make proper rotations for their attacks
