I love this weapon! I'll surely use it somewhere (maybe Gore), the only nitpick with it is its muzzleflash that needs a bit of shade, I guess. But it works really good imho.
Well, I have optimized the wad, as far as you can see from there:
Changes, like Bowie sang

Ah, forgot to use ogg sounds Thanks for that.
I've added a better pickup sprite and updated the op.
Also how did you make everything smaller?

Through PNGOUT, PNGCRUSH and DEFLOPT via Slade3.
Check this
Now I'll take a look to the new pickup.
[EDIT]: The pickup looks much better now.

Odd thing: The scratch sound works when you hit a wall (which is odd, maybe a clang?). Against enemies, the sound either doesn't apply or is overshadowed by the pain sound.
Dunno if this is just on my end.

So, is the fully-fixed version the one currently linked in the OP? Or is Ozy's link the most up-to-date one? I'd like to take this for a test-drive, but I want to make sure I'm downloading the right version.

I can't remember if I updated the original file, so downloading Ozy's one would be the best idea.

Ok. I did try out the link in the OP, and Ozy's version, and Ozy's seems more up-to-date (the bayonet sound works better). Do you want to update the OP with his new version?
I did try out both versions, and I have two points of feedback:
*The bayonet feels a little weak. I think it needs a damage boost. A range boost could be useful, too.
*If the projectiles are bullets, they shouldn't be perfectly accurate. There should be some randomness in the trajectory of the projectiles (to simulate "recoil).
Otherwise, this is pretty cool. It's surprisingly satisfying to use a projectile-based machinegun.
