DP-28 was created by Br0leg
A Soviet DP-28 Machinegun. My second weapon creation, also created for my wad. I decided to begin working on more weapons.

Not a bad effort. I gotta warn you, though, there isn't a ton of demand for "historical" weapons on the Repo; most people prefer contemporary/modern or semi-futuristic guns. So if you have more of these you were planning to submit, try not to go overboard, because they won't be of an awful lot of use to the average Doomer. I'd say pick and choose the best, and just share the rest in a thread on the ZDoom forums or maybe Doomworld.

Anyways, onto function:

*I like that you preemptively made both hand styles. However, you should bundle both together into one .ZIP, just like with the Mosin-Nagant.

*The shots are awfully powerful. I realize it's a heavy machinegun, but killing an Imp in 2 shots is a bit excessive. Even a Cyberdemon only takes a little over 100 shots to kill. Also, there's no recoil; it's got sniper-like accuracy even on full auto. There should be some recoil to the shots, especially since it's a heavy machinegun being carried as an infantry weapon. Combined with the rather high power, I can kill a Cyberdemon with it--from a great distance--without breaking a sweat. You definitely need to do a little work on the power and accuracy.

*The pickup sprite for the gun has lots of empty space around it; therefore, it doesn't appear in the weapon list in the alternate HUD correctly. The empty space should be trimmed away. The ammo item, like the Mosin, also has the same problem. (The ammo item sprite is also much too cartoony. Maybe you can borrow one of BloodyAcid's edits from this thread .)

*In DECORATE, don't use the sprite name "NULL" for an "empty" sprite. Use the name "TNT1" instead. This is a special "empty" sprite included with ZDoom specifically for this purpose. Using "NULL" won't necessarily break anything, but it will cause some people to give you some dirty looks.

*Clever job on coding the flashes so they appear behind the gun. I'm not sure I've seen that done before.

*The firing sound consumes the bulk of the submission's size, at approx. 279KB. Audio should be converted to a compressed format like OGG in submissions for space-saving. You can do that with Audacity.

-Oh, I see, the reason I couldn't place both wads into 1 zip file is because of the size. I will convert the sounds to OGG to decrease the file size.

- I will look further into balancing the gun's stats, like damage and recoil.

- I replaced all the NULL codes with TNT1 (Thanks for the hint.)

- I got rid of empty space for both the pickup sprite and ammo sprite. They now both appear properly in custom hud.

- I re-balanced the gun, decreasing the damage significantly and decreasing accuracy, simulating recoil. :)

- I converted sounds to OGG, now both wads fit in 1 zip file.

- I wanted to once again thank you for support, patience and suggestions. :)

Oh, yeah, that's because you're using attachments. Yes, there is a limit on how large a single attachment can be. I'd suggest that instead of using attachments, you look into a file-sharing service like DropBox. It's free, and when you post something on DropBox, you can get a link directly to that item you can share with other people (such as on submission threads like this). Also, another nice thing is that if you update your original item, and replace the version on DropBox, the original link remains intact, and automatically points to your updated file--you don't have to go back and remove and re-add your attachments.

I hate to be the guy that always comments about those credits, but again, this isn't a standard weapon in gmod, you need to credit the add-on/game that this was edited from and the developer of such add-on/game. Just saying "made by using dp28 model in Garry's mod" isn't enough, who made the model?

Any update about the credits issue mentioned above? The info/credits lump should also be added to the wad files.

Once again, sorry for a long reply, I was gone for a while. Anyways the model is ported from Red Orchestra 2, so Tripwire would get the credit

I don't have too much to say about realistic weapons, except maybe lower the firing noise a bit, and the sprites should be a little more close to the center.
