The current sprites aren't up to snuff, I'm afraid. It looks like it's a model rip that didn't quite work out. The color palette is very limited (only using about 128 colors, whereas palettes support up to 256), and there's lots of dithering and artifacts due to color loss. There's also numerous colors in the palette that the sprite isn't actually using. Did you by any chance palettize the image before removing the background? Also, RPTRA1 has jagged edges where the background was cut away, and several floating gray pixels on the left side of the image.
If this is in fact a model rip, do you want to post the "original" source? Perhaps we can give you some tips on adapting it. Also, what is your image editing program?
Functionality-wise, I don't think the weapon should go into zoom mode every time the player fires. That feels a bit jarring. I think the zoom should be toggled via alt-fire. I think the rate-of-fire might also be a bit too slow, too, on account of the long delay when the clip is discharged.

Thanks for the suggestions. I lost the source (it was a stage prop from a school play) but I fixed the jagged edges and strange pixels. I also added a less accurate non-zoomed fire and an extra bullet to the burst to increase the rounds-per-minute of the gun: http://www.m*diafire.com/file/oq2umxkpp2kcvnc/BurstRifle.zip.

In terms of sprites, this has the same issue as the Heat Ray. Though, in this case, there seems to be more a lack of detailing on the weapon. Is there a particular reason the weapon goes to the center of the screen whenever a shot is fired? Seems a little strange that it is an angled weapon while walking around and the switches places when firing.

So now that I fixed the centered firing issue and ROF, would it be eligible for doom style or other style or will it need to be overhauled sprite wise?

Ah, I didn't notice that both links are pointing to the same file. Yes, I'm afraid it will need to be overhauled sprite-wise...the current set is just too lacking in detail.
