I think A_SpawnItemEx with the SXF_TRANSFERPITCH flag is a start. I don't know how to utilize it though.

As for alt-fire...well, I have a couple ideas.
  • Arc Shot. That is, a projectile that is affected by gravity. While visually impressive, it doesn't have much use versus the normal shot.
  • Vertical Spread. Instead of three shots horizontal, there would be three vertical. It can act as a wall, but is restricted otherwise (and the wall doesn't really work well like this).
  • Recharge. If this were the case, the weapon's ammo would be a chargeable weapon, and you would have to hold down Alt-fire to recharge it.
  • Platform shot. Now, to be clear, I haven't tried this yet. The idea is to make a projectile shoot out, and then die quickly, releasing a flat platform (thinking 5x5 balls). This could be useful to make a platform under you.

College is a bitch.

So I decided on the platform shot for Alt-Fire. It's mainly meant to stop your fall safely and continue your parkour-ing on laser bridges.
